Description

This is Apollinaire’s first published poem and reads:Moon dribbling honey upon lips of lunaticsOrchards and country towns tonight grow greedyStars resemble beesOf a luminous liquid that drips from trellisesEach honey beam oozes from heavenTaking its own sweet timeHidden I glimpse the sweet adventureBut I fear the fiery sting of that bee ArcturusHe has flung me deceiving beamsAnd culled his moon honey from the compass rose of the winds
